Communication norms
How we communicate, and what that means day to day.
Chat for the day-to-day
Team chat, questions, quick decisions, and project updates happen in Slack — async-first, so don’t expect instant replies. Use the right space for the right thing, and keep important decisions written down.
Email for formal and external
Client communications, formal notifications, and anything that needs a paper trail go by email. Everything internal stays in chat.
No expectation outside hours
We don’t expect replies outside working hours. If you’re working late, schedule your message for the morning rather than pinging someone.
Document decisions
If a decision gets made in a meeting or a chat, write it down somewhere findable.
Meetings are expensive. No agenda, no meeting. Default to 30 minutes, and finish early if you’re done. Before you schedule one, ask honestly whether a message would do instead.
